4 I don't see that identifying mental entities with
physical is analogous to identifying flying saucers with
swamp gas.  In the first case we are deciding what kinds of
theories to make about mental phenomena whose existence
is uncontroversial and the problem is conceptual.  In the
second case, there is no conceptual problem about flying
saucers containing little green men, scientists just think
that the people who report seeing them are mistaken or
lying.
